lurkers?
I'm curious as to whether anybody's reading this who isn't on my friends list. I can think of at least one person who might be (are you there, Justice?) but I don't know if there are any more. I'm asking because I'm thinking about locking my journal for a while, making it viewable by friends only. If you've been reading and you have a livejournal account but we aren't "friends," I could totally add you. If you don't have an account, you could always set one up just to look at stuff and not post yourself. But if there were enough people reading this who don't have accounts and don't want to bother with getting them, I might reconsider the locking thing.

Plus, it's just nice to know who's reading. So even if you don't care if I lock my journal, if you've been reading up to this point I'd like to know you're out there.

I don't mind lurkers on principle, so there's no need to be sorry. I'm just asking because I'm trying to figure out if there's a good reason why I shouldn't lock my journal. I was kind of hoping people would chime in and declare their presence so I'd know who, if anybody, I'd be excluding if I locked it. But it's ok if you don't want to. It's just harder to take people into account if I don't know who they are--but if that's ok with you I don't mind either.

I look at your journal sometimes when I am looking at Chris's([info]stopremembering) friends list. I would love to add you as one of my friends but I totally understand if you don't want to do that, since we really don't know each other.

Sheesh, you're such a gossip. As it happens, I have a few separate reasons for thinking about doing this, none of which are terribly scandalous. But I don't really feel like mentioning them here, as you might imagine.

I'm kind of embarrassed to admit it, but I read your journal from time to time. I think I found you first on my friendsfriends page (we have one LJ friend in common) and I liked your posts about music and knitting, so I check in on your page every so often. if you do go the friends only route I would love to be added if you don't think that's too weird; I'll add you back but my livejournal is mostly whining and bitching, so I wouldn't recommend it. :)

Don't be embarrassed! I've met quite a few nice people, including some close friends, because we read each other's journals due to a common friend and ended up adding each other. I'll go ahead and add you in case I make the change. You don't have to add me back, but if you'd like to I certainly wouldn't mind. I'm not freaked out about whining.

Yes, I'm here-I'd be a little disappointed if you locked your lj, but don't let that sway you-it's likely to give me a reason to send out a how you doing email more than once in a blue moon.
